Welcome to UMBC! Students admitted for the fall semester are eligible to attend summer session.
Summer session is a great time for incoming freshmen and transfer students to grit going at UMBC. Lighten your fall class load, take required courses, and get acclimated to the campus. Smaller classes and dedicated faculty will give you a jump start on the busy fall semester and help keep you on track to graduate on time!
No additional application is required to enroll in summer session.
July 7 - August 16
All incoming freshman are required to take a Math course as well as an English course during their first year at UMBC.
UMBC's Summer Bridge Program features required introductory Math classes and an English class in a six week condensed format. Incoming UMBC students can enroll in math, writing, or both. The program also includes an interactive seminar to help ease the transition to college and establish solid skills for academic success.
Students who successfully complete the program will earn 4 to 7 academic credits and receive a fall scholarship equal to one credit of tuition.
UMBC math course requirements vary by major. For some majors, one math course taken in the first year fulfills the graduation requirement. For students pursuing a STEM degree, multiple math courses are required, including math courses which must be taken prior to or in conjunction with other subject courses in their major.
Be sure to consult Math Paths for Incoming Freshmen to help you stay on track to graduate on time.
