Study Abroad

During summer and winter sessions, UMBC offers short-term study abroad programs taught by UMBC's own faculty. Want to study abroad, but can’t fit into your academic schedule — these programs are for you. Travel with other UMBC students, discover new cultures and perspectives, and earn credits that count toward your degree. Most study abroad programs are open to all majors.

Standard UMBC tuition is waived for summer faculty-led study abroad programs. Students pay a program cost, which includes:

  • airport pick-up and drop-off in country
  • on-site accommodations
  • some or all meals
  • cultural visit entries, excursions and international travel insurance
  • mandatory university fees

Not included in the program fee are international airfare, personal expenses, passport fees, and some meals. Financial aid assistance may be available for qualified students.

Winter 2019 Programs

The deadline to apply for winter 2019 faculty-led study abroad programs is September 17, 2018. For questions about the programs contact sao@umbc.edu.
