Interdisciplinary CoLab Open House
August 10 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
The ability to work effectively in a team is a valuable skill for students of all majors. UMBC’s Interdisciplinary CoLab internship program brings together interdisciplinary teams of students and faculty to collaborate on relevant real-world projects during the summer session. Students from all majors learn from each other, while gaining practical skills in narrative research, technology, and digital storytelling.
Join Summer 2022 participants as they present their projects and discuss their collaborative experiences. This year, teams worked with Baltimore City’s Great Kids Farm to update their elementary school healthy eating program and develop social media marketing and videos for the Farm. One team produced a digital story and finding-aid for the Mid-Atlantic Regional Moving Images Archive (MARMIA). And another team created a website about an East Baltimore neighborhood’s past using oral histories held in UMBC’s Special Collections.
Find out how this narrative-based research and digital story-telling program promotes interdisciplinary learning, develops valuable collaboration skills, and creates meaningful final products for the campus and greater Baltimore community.
Speakers include: Kate Drabinski, Maria Yiannouris, Daniela Romo, Jennie Hardman, Theo Reinert, Sophia Wahl, and Fej Torres.
