Public Art and Placemaking: Ensuring Community well-being during COVID-19

But even in times of crisis, art has the power to unite and connect us. Learn how public art can collectively reimagine and adapt public spaces to best reflect and meet peoples’ personal and public health needs. This talk explores what happens when public art prioritizes the needs of residents over the needs of drivers to create safe outdoor spaces that help bring people together.

Bio: Graham Coreil-Allen is a public artist making cities more inclusive and livable through public art, placemaking, and civic engagement. Coreil-Allen produces participatory projects and leads social initiatives in the service of pedestrians and places. His projects range from colorful pavement designs and creative wayfinding to interactive sculptures and LED lighting installations. He’s a board member for Baltimore Heritage, and served as co-chair of Baltimore City Mayor Brandon Scott’s Arts and Culture Transition Committee.
