Regina T. Boyce, MD State Delegate: From the Grassroots to Annapolis
July 15, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
The media pays a lot of attention to national politics, but much policy that affects us happens at the state and local level. Voting always matters, but it can matter the most in these smaller races—and make a big difference in our daily lives. As we have seen in recent weeks though, grassroots involvement at the local level, along with voting, is more important than ever.
Regina T. Boyce, State Delegate from Maryland’s 43rd District, will discuss voting in local elections, equity issues that need to be solved so that all votes get cast and get counted, and how to get involved at the grassroots level to make real change in local neighborhoods and communities. Boyce will also share her experience transitioning from a grassroots activist to being an elected official, and why and how we all need to do our part to move our communities closer to justice for all.
Bio: Regina was born in Washington, D.C. to Caribbean parents who emigrated to the United States from Jamaica and Barbados. She received received her Bachelors of Kinesiology and Psychology from Towson University, and holds a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Baltimore.
Boyce was elected Delegate from Baltimore’s 43rd district in 2018. She serves on the Environment & Transportation Committee, and is assigned to the Environment and Motor Vehicle & Transportation subcommittees.
